Well I have just arrived home and spent the past hour going through all the pictures I took in the past 48 hours. I took about 70, and still ahd room for 100 more! A while back I purchased a memroy card for the new camera, the least expensive one I found was 25 bucks and it was a 128MB card, plenty of space!
Saturday we planned on leaving about noon to start our treck to Cleveland. So about 2:30 we were on the road. We stopped at Wegmans for lunch and picked up a map of Cleveland from AAA, which came in use, good thinking Christine! We arrived in Cleveland at about 6:30 and spent about a hlf hour driving around trying to find the place where the concert was being held. The Agora Ballroom. Which happened to be on the edge of the not so nicest of areas of the city. So this is where themap came in handy.
Once we found the place we were hungry. We went to Copperstown Cleveland. I sports/rock themed place. We felt a bit out of place there, everyone was wearing Minnesota Twins shirts fro some reason, even though the resturaunt is directly across from Jacobs Field(Cleveland Indians). And everyone was smoking inside! Which is kinda fun at first since we can't do that in New York anymore. We grabbed a seat in there dining room area. Christine order a plate of nachos, Sean ordered some Chicken Fingers, and I ordered THREE WAYS. YEA. Theyhad on there appetizer seaction 'Rock City Chili', and underneath that they had 2-ways, the chili with cheese and scallions, then underneath that, theyhad 5-ways, with sourcream and onions added with pasta. So I got 2-ways with pasta. That was awesome, I dont think it was as good as the Three-Ways we make, and it had a ton of beans. The beans werent bad, there was too much of them, I may consider adding beans to the next batch of three ways now. So my day was made, I was on cloud nine, I was already dying to get home and write about ordering three ways in a resturaunt on my blog!
After our amazing meal, we went back to the Agora Ballroom for the show. There were three bands playing.
The first was
Trevor Dunns Trio Convulsant. This was cool, there was a guitarist, a drummer and a bassist. The guitarist was MaryHalvorson, a classically trained guitarist, she played with such accuracy it was awesome to see. Christine got her to sign my ticket stubb! The bassist was Trevor Dunn, he is also the bassist for
Fantomas , he played the upright bass and that was really fun to see, we was going crazy with it too. There music was alot of fun to listen too, no lyrics or vocals, all intrumental. I will probably pick up there CD.
Second was a band called
The Locust, these guys were nuts. They set up with the drummer right in front, he obviously led the show, right off the bat I was amazed at the level of sound they put out, it was loud, very very loud, but very powerful, I was shocked. After a few songs it all sounded like noise to me, but that first burst was incredible. I wont be getting there CD, but I wont forget that first burst.
Lastly was Fantomas, the group we really really were looking forward to seeing. Led by Mike Patton, probably my favorite music artist person to listen too. I have been listeing to Fantomas for a few years now, thanks to Sean. I was thining during the show, that I love this music so much, that I have no clue what I would be listening to now if Sean hadnt shown me Mike Patton and Mr. Bungle, Tomohawk, Peeping Tom, Fantomas, etc. This group, Fantomas is amazing. The drummer is the drummer from Slayer, the bassist is from the Melvins, he has huge huge hair like a afro on a white guy. The bassist is Trevor Dunn. It was so much fun and awesome to see them do there music live. They played a bunch of tracks from all there albums even the new one I bough last Tuesday, it was so much fun, they even played my favorite track on the new album, that was awesome!
After the show, we decided to try to grab a quick beer and chat about the show before hitting the road to Jamestown. I will never move to Cleveland. We spent a half hour or so trying to find a place to grab a beer, but all we saw was over crowded bars with lines up the waazoo out front and absolutly no parking. So we hit he 90 and turned our sights towards Jamestown. We arrived in Bemus Point at Christines Parents house about 3am and hit the sack.
I woke up about Noon, and went for a walk around the area, Christine parents live right on the water, so I walking along the road that rolls around the lake taking pictures, it was a beautiful day. I'll post some picture here, but I'm putting nearly all of them on Ofoto.com. You can see them
here.Well I'm beat, it was a great packed weekend, great times with good friends, a kick-ass concert, and great weather! now to post a few pictures.
